New ICC Arbitration Rules Applicable from 1 June 2026

The International Chamber of Commerce International Court of Arbitration (ICC), established in 1923, has released an update to its rules which will apply to arbitrations which begin on or after 1 June 2026 unless otherwise agreed by the parties (2026 ICC Rules). The new rules build on previous iterations developed over the past century while incorporating several new innovations – including a process for having a claim or defence dealt with summarily at an early stage; a new three-month highly expedited procedure; and a mechanism for a party to seek emergency relief without alerting the other side.
