Jacob is a highly regarded trial advocate with expertise in commercial regulatory disputes. Prior to joining Lindsay Francis & Mangan, Jacob was a partner at New Zealand’s largest specialist litigation firm, leading the firm’s competition and consumer law practice across a range of commercial and criminal cases in New Zealand’s trial and appellate courts. He has particular expertise helping clients navigate regulatory investigations and proceedings.
Jacob has a Masters from Harvard Law School, and sits on the prosecution panels for the Commerce Commission and Serious Fraud Office. He is also the Deputy Chair of the Sport Integrity Commission’s Disciplinary Panel.

Representing the Commerce Commission in recently filed proceedings against Fletcher Building-owned subsidiary Winstone Wallboards Ltd for alleged anti-competitive rebate practices.
Representing the Commerce Commission in recently filed cartel proceedings against Harcourts Group and some of its franchisees for allegations of price fixing.
Acting in New Zealand’s first criminal cartel proceeding involving allegations of bid-rigging in the construction sector (R v Mardom Limited [2025] NZHC 3180; R v Kumar [2024] NZHC 3955)
Representing carpet manufacturer Godfrey Hirst in proceedings brought under the Fair Trading Act against its chief competitor, Bremworth, for allegations of greenwashing (Bremworth v Godfrey Hirst [2023] NZCA 652; Godfrey Hirst v Bremworth [2023] NZHC 1365).
Representing a large New Zealand company in various adjudications under the Construction Contracts Act arising out of a $150m commercial development.
Lead counsel in various proceedings brought by the Commerce Commission for breaches of the Fair Trading Act and Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act (incl CC v The Warehouse Ltd [2026] NZDC 5776; CC v Jetstar Airways [2025] NZDC 18366; CC v Cullen [2024] DCR 92; CC v Milkio Foods Ltd [2024] DCR 431; CC v PB Technologies [2018] NZDC 20733; CC v Ace Marketing [2017] DCR 27, (2016) 14 TCLR 404)
Representing the Crown as lead counsel in the criminal proceedings arising from Operation Beverly, a large Police investigation into alleged historic sexual abuse by staff members and other individuals associated with Dilworth School (C v R [2021] NZCA 478).
